Accessibility

L’Arche Toronto is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We respect and abide by the standards set forth under AODA.

We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under Ontario’s accessibility laws.

Accessibility is about creating communities, workplaces and services that enable everyone to participate fully in society without barriers, as is our human right.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) is an Ontario law mandating that organizations must follow standards to become more accessible to people with disabilities. The goal for the province is to be fully accessible by 2025. All levels of government, private sectors, and non-profits must comply with this legislation.

L’Arche Toronto has created a multi-year Accessibility Plan as a framework for the activities that ensure the continued creation and maintenance of a barrier-free environment for our community and for the public.
