In our homes, members with intellectual and developmental disabilities (core members) and those who support them (assistants) share their lives and the ordinary tasks of daily living like cooking, cleaning, shopping, and putting out the trash and recycling. Assistants provide support for personal care as needed.
Together, the members of the home share meals, reflect on the day, welcome guests, and celebrate holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. Each member is supported to stay connected to their family, friends, and cultural and faith communities.
The Day Program supports individuals to pursue individual and shared interests such as cooking, doing crafts, swimming, and exploring the city.
L’Arche Toronto receives base funding for our homes and day supports from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS). Residential supports (homes) are accessed through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO). You can find out more through this link.
